Getting Started
What does Grillkeeper do?
Grillkeeper is a BBQ timer that schedules everything to come off the grill at the same time. Instead of running separate timers for each food, you pick everything you're cooking and the app figures out when to add each item so they all finish together.
Does Grillkeeper require an account or internet connection?
No. Everything runs entirely on your device. No sign-in, no internet needed, no data leaves your phone.
Cooking
How do I start a cook session?
Tap the Cook tab, select the foods you're making, then tap Start Cook. Each food card shows a countdown and tells you when to add it to the grill.
Why doesn't everything start at the same time?
That's the point! Foods with shorter cook times are held in a queue. When it's time to add them, the card shows a countdown and a green Add button — tap it when the food goes on the grill.
Can I add a food after the cook has started?
Yes. Tap Add Food during an active session. You can add it as a queued slot (synced to your finish time) or as a standalone timer running independently.
How do I pause the cook?
Tap the pause button at the top of the Cook screen. All timers freeze. Tap again to resume — the app accounts for any time you were paused.
How do I stop a cook?
Tap the stop (×) button at the top. This ends the session and returns you to the food-selection screen.
Flip Alerts
What are flip alerts?
Flip alerts appear as an in-app banner and a notification when it's time to turn a food over. Tap Flip Now to log the flip and dismiss the alert.
What if I miss a flip alert?
The card stays highlighted until you tap Flip. You can also tap the Flip button on the card at any time without waiting for an alert.
Can I adjust where the flip happens?
Yes. In My Foods, tap a food to edit it. The Flip Track bar shows markers for each flip — drag a marker to move it, tap an empty spot to add one, and hold a marker for 600ms to remove it.
Notifications
Why am I not getting flip/done notifications?
Check that notifications are enabled for Grillkeeper in your iPhone's Settings → Grillkeeper → Notifications. Notifications are sent locally by the app — they don't require internet.
My Foods
How do I add a custom food?
Go to the My Foods tab and tap + Add Food at the bottom. Enter a name, cook time, and any flip points, then tap Save.
Can I edit the preset foods?
Yes. Tap any food in My Foods to edit its name, cook time, flip points, or target temperature.
Settings
How do I change between Fahrenheit and Celsius?
Go to the Settings tab and toggle the temperature unit. All target temperatures in your food library update immediately.
